Rediscovering Our Hunger (Day 2)

RECOGNIZE THE ABSENCE
1 Chronicles 13:3 (NLT)
“It is time to bring back the Ark of our God, for we neglected it during the reign of Saul.”
Hunger fades when His presence is forgotten.
Devotional Thought
The hunger of a nation died under Saul’s leadership. For 40 years, the Ark of God—the symbol of His presence—was absent. The people adjusted. They carried on with routines, sacrifices, and ceremonies, all without God at the center. But David noticed. He saw what had been missing for far too long, and he called it out: “We neglected the Ark.”
Before revival comes recognition. You cannot pursue what you haven’t acknowledged is gone. Many of us feel spiritually dry, but we’re too busy to recognize the absence. We feel off, but we push through. Yet spiritual hunger begins when we realize what’s missing — when we stop pretending everything is fine.
David didn’t just recognize the absence. He made it public. He gathered the people. He said, “This is not okay anymore. It’s time to bring the Ark back.” If we want to get our hunger back, we must do the same — call out what’s missing and prepare to bring it home.

Application Questions
1. Where have I grown numb to the absence of God’s presence?
2. What spiritual routines have replaced real relationship with Him?
3. Who in my life needs to be invited back into a shared hunger for His presence?

Today's Challenge
Your calendar is a more accurate reflection of your values than your statements. Look at your calendar and see how you can build your week around your time with God rather than trying to fit your time with God into your schedule.
Today's Prayer
Lord, I’ve carried on in areas where You’ve been absent. I admit today that I need You — not just in the background, but at the center. Show me where I’ve settled for routines without intimacy. I don’t want to live one more day without Your presence being my priority. Amen.
