Growing in Meekness Pt. 2 (Day 5)

The Inheritance of the Meek
Matthew 5:5 (ESV)
“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”
“The meek do not take the earth by force—they receive it by faith.”
Devotional Thought
Jesus flipped the script of history with this one line: “The meek… shall inherit the earth.” Not the warriors. Not the rich. Not the loud. Not the powerful.
The meek.
That’s not how kingdoms are usually built. That’s not how territory is normally gained. Yet in God’s kingdom, blessing doesn’t belong to those who grasp—it belongs to those who yield.
To inherit something means you didn’t earn it—you received it. The meek don’t strive for what’s theirs. They wait. They trust. They obey. And in due time, they receive everything God has promised.
This isn’t just future-tense (the new heavens and earth)—it’s also present. The meek already walk in the peace, provision, and presence of a King who owns it all. And one day, the inheritance will be complete.
In the end, the earth won’t belong to the proud, the powerful, or the popular. It will belong to those who learned to walk low—those who trusted the Father, stayed surrendered, and let meekness mark their lives.

Application Questions
- What does it mean to you that meekness leads to inheritance and not achievement?
- How does this promise reshape the way you think about success, power, or recognition?
- Where do you need to wait in faith instead of fighting for control?
Today's Challenge
Take one step today that demonstrates trust in God’s timing rather than your own efforts.
Whether it's in a conversation, decision, or leadership moment—choose to surrender the outcome to God and rest in His promise to provide.

Today's Prayer
Lord, I thank You that I don’t have to take what You’ve promised—I only need to trust and obey. Let meekness mark my life. Let humility be my posture and faith be my strength. I believe You are faithful to Your Word. I choose to wait, to yield, and to trust. May I walk in Your ways today, confident in Your timing and secure in my inheritance. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
