Growing in Meekness Pt. 2 (Day 4)

The Fruit of Meekness is Gentleness
Galatians 5:22–23 (ESV)
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control…”
“Gentleness is not the loss of power—it’s the right use of it.”
Devotional Thought
When the Spirit dwells in a person, the fruit is unmistakable—not force, but gentleness. This gentleness is not a personality trait. It’s not softness of speech or slowness of pace. It is the outer expression of a meek heart.
Gentleness doesn’t mean “easy to ignore”—it means “safe to trust.” It’s strength that doesn’t crush. It’s truth that doesn’t shame. It’s influence without intimidation.
That’s what the Spirit produces in us as we surrender control.
And this fruit isn’t optional—it’s expected.
In a world that values dominance, gentleness feels unnatural. But for the disciple of Jesus, it’s essential. You don’t have to win every debate. You don’t have to assert your rights in every conversation. You don’t have to be the loudest voice in the room.
You simply need to walk by the Spirit.
Meekness is the posture. Gentleness is the tone. Together, they form a life that points others to Christ—not just in what you say, but in how you say it.

Application Questions
- How often do you associate gentleness with the work of the Holy Spirit in your life?
- In what types of situations do you find gentleness most difficult to display?
- Who around you needs to see the fruit of gentleness through your tone, timing, or tenderness?
Today's Challenge
Practice gentleness in one key interaction today.
Whether it’s with your spouse, a child, a co-worker, or someone difficult—intentionally lower your volume, choose your words slowly, and lead with grace. Let your tone match the Spirit’s fruit.

Today's Prayer
Spirit of God, I surrender to You again. Produce in me the kind of life that reflects Jesus—gentle and lowly in heart. Help me not just to speak truth, but to carry it gently. Let my strength be restrained and my presence be safe. May gentleness flow from my connection with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
